Turkey Hill Farm
North Salem, NY
STIMSON re-graded the area immediately adjacent to the house and created a series of terraces to incorporate the program elements. A low wall defines a small parking area and creates a platform for the front lawn and entry garden. Large drifts of grasses, Russian sage, and other perennials meander across the lawn and throughout the site. The pool terrace sits mid-way between the upper and lower levels of the house where lawn steps lead to a small orchard terrace. The vanishing edge of the pool draws the eye through the orchard to the horse paddock and woodland beyond. To the south, a long stone wall supports a level play lawn, and grass steps lead from the lawn to a new pond surrounded by birch trees, grasses, and native shrubs.
