Mingjie Cai

Mingjie received her master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design, where she won the RI Chapter ASLA Honor Award in 2017 and the University Olmsted Scholar award in 2018. At RISD, Mingjie mainly focused on the topics of ecological infrastructure and urban revitalization, and had the chance to extend her design knowledge into illustration, jewelry, and the arts. Prior to moving to the US, she practiced as a landscape designer in China. Based on her diverse and trans-disciplinary experience, her interests address the possibility of integrating landscape architecture, urban design, and the arts to create new public spaces in the urban milieu. Besides the role of landscape designer, she is also a part-time author-illustrator of children’s books.
