Milton Academy
Milton, MA

The Crossroads Building is a new student-faculty center on the Milton Academy Campus.  The Center Street entrance has a south-facing brick terrace defined by bench seating, shade trees and low shrub planting.  The space is the focal point of a new campus landscape and a natural gathering space for students and faculty.  The design eliminates vehicular access and excess pavements, to create a pedestrian core that links four major campus buildings.  The site design took a disciplined approach; street trees reinforce an existing, fragmented tree row, a wide pedestrian walk snaps a straight line connecting primary building entrances, and modest groves of flowering trees provide reminders of changing seasons.
